GSTA WEB SERVICES
The aol upgrade is in two parts.
First you need to Upgrade to AOL 3.0
- Download the AOL 3.0 and install it.
- Go to the file manager and search through all your drives
for files which are named "WINSOCK.DLL".
You can only keep the one from AOL which currently should be
in your C:\AOL30\WINSOCK\WINSOCK.DLL location.
If you find any other WINSOCK.DLL files please rename them
to something else. If you don't the system won't work with
other browsers.
- This will allow you to use 16-bit Winsock Applications.
Second get a browser that can show you the real WEB
- Netscape Navigator or Microsoft Explorer are good ones.
- Get the true 16-bit versions, even if you are using Windows-95
the 32-bit versions will NOT!!! work with AOL's winsock.
- Install the browser.
- Reboot your machine and login to AOL.
- When you are in AOL you can reduce the screen and then load
your prefered browser.
- DO NOT START THE AOL browser!!!
This will cause the other browser
to fail. If you happen to get in the AOL browser by mistake; then
log off AOL and restart Windows.
You can upgrade your browser using one of these addresses:
America On-Line 3.0
Microsoft Explorer 3.0 Win95/MAC
Netscape Navigator
